The Second Day in The City

Today (Saturday) some of the interns and I decided to head into the city. Nele (from Belgium) and I went last Sunday, and Catherine went last Saturday with her mentor, but Stephanie hadn't been yet (while we've been on our internship - she has been to NYC many times before).

The first official stop of the day was to Battery Park (the first unofficial stop was Starbucks for some drinks and food).

Then we decided to walk up to Ground Zero and we passed Trinity Church along the way - this church is beautiful! (Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of Ground Zero - it looks different now, though, since they've started construction!)

Then we walked down and across to Wall Street - this is the front side of Trinity Church.

The New York Stock Exchange.

Then we headed over to the water and up to South Street Seaport where we got to see a beautiful view of the Brooklyn Bridge.

There was some sort of NBA thing going on at South Street - complete with hoops and large basketballs (this is Catherine and Stephanie).

Then we headed back across town to find a subway (which took awhile since many of them were closed for construction) so that we could head uptown to lunch.

On the subway - ready for lunch!

Chinatown!

On the way to the restaurant we saw an interesting parking structure and we got to see the bottom right car being lowered and then driven off of the structure.

Today was the first time I had Dim Sum and it was good! We went to Stephanie's uncle's restaurant and the food was delicious!!

Stephanie and Catherine

Nele and myself

Stephanie's cousin had some delicious pudding and coconut dessert sent to our table! It was yummy!

The restaurant is called Red Egg (Stephanie and Nele).

You should go there if you're in NYC!!

Then we took the subway uptown even further so that we could see the Flat Iron building. This pretty building is the first thing we saw when we got out of the subway.

Then we saw this statue

Then we saw the building! Nele really wanted to see the "iron" building since it's one of those famous "images" of NYC

Then we walked uptown a little further to walk past the Empire State Building

On our way to Grand Central we passed this Statue of Liberty statue so we took some pictures (Nele)

Stephanie prefers to pose as the statues are posing

Grand Central Terminal

While in Grand Central we headed to the basement and ate some delicious Junior's cheesecake!

It was cheaper for the four of us to buy and share a small whole cheesecake

We were quite hungry and ready to eat by this point! And it did not disappoint!!

Then we headed further uptown to Abercrombie & Fitch - Nele doesn't have one back home and she really wanted to see it. This is the flagship store.

Since it was only a couple blocks away, we then decided to walk to FAO - a great toy store!!!

Stephanie decided to take a picture with the stuffed zebras

They had a Hogwarts section in the store so Stephanie and Nele (and Catherine below) took a picture in the hats

Stephanie, again posing like the "statue"

After FAO, we walked across the south side of Central Park and then took the subway down to Times Square (sorry, no pics of Times Square) and headed back up to the M&Ms store (and the Hershey's store)

After Times Square, we decided to walk to Penn Station and we passed this interesting statue on our way while we were in the fashion district.

In case you're wondering, we walked about 120 blocks today - that compares to about 12 miles!!! And that doesn't even count wandering around the stores, and Grand Central, etc. Yeah, we definitely got our workout today!

Smile: Yay for a great day with some great interns!!

Extra Smile: Yay for exercising while enjoying the city!!!!
