The Firecracker 5K

Tonight (Tuesday night) was the YWCA Princeton's sixth annual ETS Firecracker 5K Run/Walk. Several of the interns and I decided to participate (it was free of charge for us as ETS will pay the $20 charge on our behalf). A few of the interns chose to run, some did a mixture of running and walking, and some of us just walked. All in all, it was a long day (due to the 5K we were at work until 6 before we started getting ready for the race) but (despite the humidity and the periodic rain) it was a great evening!

Some of the interns before the race

Before the race they had a group yoga/stretching period with some music to get every one pumped. A few of the female interns decided to participate.

Katherine and Julio decided to run so they were near the front of the pack.

Some of the rest of us (the walkers and run-walkers) were near the middle to end of the pack.

There was a rainbow at the start of the race! It wasn't super bright, but it was beautiful!

After a mile we were up a little hill and the sunset was gorgeous!!

Nele (in front of the girl in orange pants) and Margarita passed Neal (khakis) and another intern proving that speed walking can beat out running/walking! Good job ladies!!

Some cute ducks in the grass next to our path

After the race (which is why we all look so beautiful, right?!)

After some people grabbed some sandwiches, chips, and cookies, we gathered around for the trophy presentation.

Katherine won second place for her age group! Yay Katherine!!!

Sophie wanted to take a picture with her tropy! :)

Julio and Katherine won first place for the male and female interns! Good job!!

After the trophy presentation we rested in another room in the building.

I tried to take a picture of the beautiful fireflies that were lighting up the grassy field, but it looks like I failed in my attempt. Oh well, maybe next time!

Smile: Yay for a great evening and some great exercise!
